Ono Island is located far away from the commercialized Fijian Islands which offers a delightful sense of remoteness and seclusion ensuring that your holiday will truly be unique. It is at the northern tip of the Kadavu Group surrounded by the Great Astrolabe Reef. Vunisea is in the middle of Kadavu and home to the only airport for the region. Getting to Ono Island Kadavu is a worth while trek!
Many major airlines fly into Nadi International Airport (IATA: NAN, ICAO: NFFN). Once you arrive on the main island, Viti Levu, you will fly 45 minutes south to the beautiful Kadavu Island chain. Take the domestic flight to Vunisea Airport in Kadavu (www.Fijiairways.com). It is the only commercial airline that flies between Nadi and Kadavu. We will meet you at the Vunisea Airport with a speed boat. You will then enjoy an approximately 1.5 hour ride from Vunisea to Ono Island. Cross your fingers in hopes of spotting dolphins or whales on this ride.
Depending on the country you are coming from, you may need to overnight in Nadi then catch the plane to Kadavu the next day. If this happens, it usually a reverse process on the way out. We recommend you stay at the Raffles Gateway Hotel in Nadi. It is convenient and comfortable especially after a long flight into Nadi.
Getting to Ono Island Kadavu is farther than most people travel and that is exactly what makes it such a special place to visit.
